With the grand opening of the airport near Madhapur, the focus is streaming on Hyderabad property and development. What this means is that the lovely city is losing space and room for expansion.

Since the big IT companies have hit the area, expansion has been on a rocket ride. Many companies have built campuses there for employees, and numerous commercial projects have started and finished, with mega malls, skyscrapers, roads, mass transit systems and many entertainment facilities.

Now the area of attention is more to the Northeast of the city, out by the airport. But don't blink as the area will quickly be utilized and the space between the airport and the HITEC city will no longer be vacant land. Housing is still a much needed commodity as many more people arrive in the area with new companies establishing themselves. Real estate is a primary focus, especially near the airport. India's first chip manufacturing facility is planned near the airport. All this will continue to attract major corporations to the area. Work will also be plentiful for IT professionals.

Currently the fastest growing area of any metro airport in India at 44%, Hyderabad faces the problems of growing too fast. Does it have the capacity to build fast enough to accommodate the rapid influx of people coming to work there? By all indications, the developers are doing an admirable job of doing so. It seems there is no shortage of living space currently.

Although prices have also skyrocketed, IT professionals and the like will have no problems finding adequate lodging. And it will still be cheaper than it would be say in New York City.

As with all growth, many new companies will invade India for the first time. One notable is Cartier, manufacturer of fine watches. While Cartier is setting up in Delhi initially, it is already looking at setting up in other areas as well to cash in on the current affluence in the country.

It is anyone's guess as to when this expansion will curtail. As of now, no one cares. Expansion means business, means enterprise, and means revenue. Why stop it?

Done right, India will become a leader in many markets. Done wrong, and India will face economic unrest. Right now, it is doing right and many people are coming to the area to take a piece of the cake.

Since the 1990's, Hyderabad has shown a remarkable expansion of IT companies,
retail industry, construction, and real estate. It goes hand in hand. Being the leading financial and economic capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, many international IT companies have moved into the area. Microsoft has built the largest campus outside the United States. Others have as well, Dell, Motorolla, Bank of America, Verizon and many more.

Construction has also seen a boom. An entire skyscraper business district is in the works. It will include a 500 yard tower which will ultimately be the tallest building in India. Many mega malls have been built or are in the planning stages. But the major influx has been in information technology companies which has spurred the boom in real estate. Prices for real estate has experienced a sharp increase in the past few years.

The entertainment sector has also seen an increase. Stadiums are being built for their international cricket matches. Moving from trading and selling items such as silverware, saris, paintings and hand-loomed clothing, Hyderabad and the surrounding area is moving into the 21st century with the large influx of IT companies.

Now being referred to the Second Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore being the first, Hyderabad now lists a large number of Fortune 500 companies as it's residents.

With such expansion, comes and influx of people who need somewhere to live. As many more companies find out how much lower their costs are, more will move into the area, bringing the need for more places to live, and more people will arrive.
Similar to the migration to Silicon Valley in California, Hyderabad will have many more people visiting and moving to the area. It has all one needs, malls, theaters, sports arenas, restaurants, and of course major companies to work for.

The lifestyle of the Indian population will also undergo a makeover. With the high tech facilities being built, our Indian cousins will arrive in the 21st century. But the fact remains, Hyderabad is undergoing a rapid expansion, and will likely continue to do so as many more IT companies come to set up shop. As companies do so, everything else must do so to keep up. Housing will continue to see rapid increases, employment will do likewise. It is a natural occurrence. Give people a place to work, they will arrive in droves to fill the need. Places to live will then need to be provided. Places to occupy their time away from work will then be needed. Until it reaches a saturation point, expansion will continue.
